Banksy is a British artist whose true identity remains a mystery. His work, mainly focused on street art, combines visually striking images with messages loaded with social, political and cultural criticism. Emerging in the 1990s on the Bristol art scene, Banksy has achieved worldwide fame thanks to his provocative and often ephemeral works on walls and public spaces in cities around the world.
With a style that mixes graffiti and stencil technique, Banksy addresses issues such as consumerism, war, climate change, and social inequalities. Some of his most iconic pieces include Girl with a Balloon and The Flower Thrower, which have been widely reinterpreted and reproduced, becoming symbols of resistance and hope.
In addition to his murals, Banksy has produced art installations such as the "Dismaland Bemusement Park" (2015), a satire of traditional theme parks, and the Walled Off Hotel in Bethlehem, a space addressing the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. His anonymity and ability to surprise audiences have helped cement his status as one of the most influential artists of our time.
